The story behind the resin

The Amazonian Croton Lechleri tree — known locally as Sangre de Grado and internationally as Dragon's Blood — produces a viscous red latex through small, controlled incisions in its bark. Done well, the cut heals and the tree keeps producing for decades. Done badly, the tree dies. The difference is technique, patience, and a long-term relationship with the forest.
